Can i use my snowboarding helmet for cycling?

I’ve decided to start cycling to work and i just wanted to know if i will be protected the same if i used my snowboard helmet when cycling. Answers on a postcard please.

It’s not about protection, but ventilation, think about it, wearing a helmet designed to keep your head warm in winter on a summer day. It’s going to be much too warm unless your helmet has some provision to be adapted for summer use.
